Great place to get snow crab! After driving to Food Lion thinking that they had a fresh sea food and meat department I was frustrated to realize that they did not. So the next day we went to Walmart thinking they would have a seafood section....we're on the coast...surely they would?? Well they didn't . On the way home from Walmart we saw Holden beach Seafood and heir sign that said "Snow Crab" and almost tipped the car over making a sharp left turn into their parking lot. Sure enough...they had a huge selection of fresh snow crab, tilapia, huge shrimp selection and scallops! I was so happy. They have some wine and of course condiments and items for cracking the legs but I didn't care. All I wanted was snow crab and I got it. Location was so much closer than driving to Walmart!
I absolutely love this place! I come to Holden beach almost every year and I always stop by on my way back home for some fresh seafood. They will gladly pack your seafood in ice to go or freeze ahead of time, complementary of course. along with their great selection of fresh seafood they also have everything from sauces and shirts to bait and tackle. I have spoken with the owner on two occations and I love that its a family owned and operated business with four generations. They also have a pack house on the intercoastal waterway, where there boats are docked only a few feet away. Here they pack their shrimp and fish, on ice, directly off their boats. If you come here you surely will leave with a smile on your face. The workers here are very friendly and always happy to answer any questions and even have great reciepes to share. I have on several occations came to get specific items and ended up trying something completely different and have never been let down! This is the only seafood market I come to now. I have been spoiled!
Loved the seafood we got here a few days ago. What a treat! They have the best selection around. The shrimp was huge and fresh plus reasonably priced. The oysters were incredible--big and tasty. I was pleased with the help we got, input on preparation, etc. they packed it on ice for us and had essentials at hand. What I loved was that there was no overly done shop, no fluff. Just good seafood and fixins. Getting some to take home on our way out of town. Give them a try for a night of cooking in at Holden. There aren't many restaurants so this is a nice change.
Had great fresh seafood. We got a whole seafood buffet for 20 people and it was so good we went back 2 days later ti get more
